Polaroids
Instant photography, popularized by Polaroid's land cameras, have cultivated a reputation for cheap documentation of family memories. Undoubtedly, most people have a box of small prints of their family dating back generations; showing happy, smiling, loving people at get-togethers, holidays, birthdays, and vacations. The pandemic has many artists--including myself--rediscovering this medium for its nostalgic physicality. What Polaroid prints captured in the past we can no longer enjoy...but we can still feel the instant gratification of a print fresh from the camera, reminiscent of times long (and not-so-long) passed.
